Tell us a bit about yourself: who are you and what originally led you to midwifery?
My name is Maja. I have been working as a freelance midwife since 2000. After leaving school, I was unsure where I wanted to go. Then I met a freelance midwife. She told me about the versatility of this profession. In addition to pregnancy and postnatal care, clinical or non-clinical obstetrics, pregnancy yoga, birth preparation, midwifery at schools, postnatal courses, pelvic floor training and so much more. The close contact with pregnant women and their families, accompanying women in this wonderfully intense stage of life with all its ups and downs, convinced me. It was exactly what I wanted to do for a living.
Switch to Hebamio
What prompted you to switch from your previous provider to Hebamio?
The switch to Hebamio was more of a coincidence. I was by no means dissatisfied with my previous provider. A midwife mentioned Hebamio at a training course. I was initially interested in the digital documentation. So I thought I'd give it a try and ordered the trial version.
How did you find out about Hebamio and what sparked your interest?
I found out about Hebamio by chance during a side conversation at a midwife training course. The digital documentation and the associated saving on paper files sparked my interest.
Were there certain experiences or aspects that particularly appealed to you when you heard about Hebamio?
No, because it was more of a subordinate clause in a training course. I actually had no idea about appearance, function, application or anything similar.
What was the biggest challenge for you when you considered switching to Hebamio?
In fact, the only thing I had to overcome was switching providers after 20 years, even though I was never dissatisfied with my old provider.
The new working day
How does your day-to-day work at Hebamio differ from your previous software provider?
Everything is interconnected. Whether it's the calendar, list of care recipients, care file, course section, general terms and conditions, QM, e-mail correspondence with care recipients, invoicing - everything goes hand in hand and saves me a lot of time in my day-to-day work and is also fun!
What benefits have you experienced since switching to Hebamio?
The biggest advantage of Hebamio for me is the time saved when organizing courses. This includes, for example, automatic reply e-mails for course registration, fast sending of course information and scripts, attendance lists and their uncomplicated feeding into the billing process.
My documentation has thankfully improved with Hebamio. It's easy to make quick entries and check them off in the patient's file during a home visit. And that makes long handwritten notes unnecessary for me.
I would never have thought that I would switch to a digital calendar. Last year I bought a pocket calendar too late. So I initially switched to the Hebamio calendar out of necessity. And I won't be going back to the pocket calendar! The calendar, documentation and billing are simply too well linked!
There are so many other advantages, e.g. feedback forms, midwife collaborations and doctors, which are fed directly into the QM system after I enter them in the care file, and much more.
What support and training opportunities do you particularly value at Hebamio?
Hebamio is quickly available for questions and problems relating to the system. Feedback via email is usually provided on the same day. If I couldn't reach anyone by phone, I was always called back the next day at the latest.
I really appreciate the fast, uncomplicated, direct contact.
The regular training courses on working with Hebamio are great and ensure good familiarization and enjoyment in dealing with the new provider.
The influence on personal development
What new experiences have you had in your role at Hebamio that you didn't know before?
It just feels a bit more personal. I really like the user-friendly structure, the beautiful color scheme and the quick contact with the provider in case of questions. I really appreciate the opportunity to express wishes for improving the system and thus making my own work easier. And it is a pleasure to see how Hebamio responds to all the different wishes of the many different midwives.
A look into the future
What advice would you give to other midwives who are also considering a change?
Just test it!!! And don't be afraid to switch to digital. Personally, I was very quickly convinced by the well thought-out concept. The support from Hebamio in the form of regular emails and training (in the mornings before starting work) to familiarize myself with the system makes it easy to switch providers.

Conclusion
The switch to Hebamio is a wonderful example of how technology can make the day-to-day work of midwives easier without losing the personal touch. Maja's experience makes it clear that digital solutions not only save time, but also create space for what really counts - the individual care and well-being of the families. By easily connecting calendars, documentation and communication, midwives can focus more on their patients and leave the stress of bureaucracy behind. Hebamio is proud to be part of this journey and constantly working to support the work of midwives. We know how important every single care is and are happy to provide a system that helps midwives focus on what matters most: their passion and dedication to their work.
