Midwife Rebekka with Hebamio on Tour at the midwife training course in Ulm

Can you imagine what it's like to be on tour with Hebamio? I can now 😊 And I'd love to tell you what it's like.
I'm Rebekka, a freelance midwife, mom of three, Hebamio user from the very beginning and a member of the Hebamio trainer team since 2022. Among other things, I run the Hebamio Café and other courses.
As part of this, I've already been on the road for Hebamio, for example giving talks at universities and introducing Hebamio to expectant midwives. But a whole day at the trade fair was a new adventure for me too.

Preparing for the trade fair day: what you need to know

In May at HEBAKON, I was able to get a taste of the trade fair for the first time, gain some initial experience and - what was special for me - spend time with the team. Unfortunately, you rarely get to see each other...
And now the time had come for Hebamio to send me to the midwife training course in Ulm to look after the trade fair stand.

But not completely without luggage - no! I was inundated with parcels a week before the fair. I knew that parcels would be coming, but neither I nor our letter carrier expected them to be THAT big. While I was still racking my brains as to how I was going to get everything into my car, my children were already making their first plans for what they could do with the big boxes.
Naturally, I was very curious, so the parcels were opened first and one or two things were assembled. After all, I didn't want to set up the stand without a clue. Thanks to my husband's help, my car was packed in no time, everything safely stowed away and ready to go.

Here we go

On 25.10.2024, after the big farewell round, I set off for Ulm. According to the satnav, I had a 2.5-hour drive ahead of me. This gave me time to get in the mood for the fair and think about what I could expect. What questions might the midwives have? Can I answer all the questions? How big will the rush be? Will I be able to set up the stand in time? These and many more went through my mind. To give me even more time to think about it, I was allowed to stand in a traffic jam for just under half an hour shortly before my destination.
Once I arrived at the hotel, I wanted to prepare the essentials for the next day and then it was time to make myself comfortable and go to bed soon. The next day would start at 5:15 am.

The day of the fair: Everything for the perfect stand set-up

When the alarm clock rang the next morning, I wasn't entirely happy with the time, as it was actually the weekend. Nevertheless, the midwife training course in Ulm was on my agenda. So I freshened up, had breakfast at 6 a.m. - the coffee was just what I needed, packed, checked out and headed to the university hospital.
Once I got to the parking garage, I faced my first challenge. How do I get all the luggage to my stand? For the sake of laziness, perhaps without walking three times? But - even the woman is the woman - I set up the hand truck, stacked up the boxes, put on the roll-ups and set off.

In front of the lecture hall where the day's lectures were taking place, all the tables for the exhibitors had already been set up and signposted. So I was able to find my place immediately and start setting up straight away. My first task was to set up the roll-ups and find the best place to display them. Then I went to the table. There I installed the wheel of fortune and set up the brackets with the presentation tablets and the prize draw box. Then I decorated the rest of the space with the jute bags for the midwives, prepared the prizes for the wheel of fortune and checked everything again.

Questions, discussions and lots of interest: The exchange with colleagues

As soon as we had finished, the first training participants arrived with curious looks and initial questions:

  • "What can Hebamio actually do?"
  • "Do I really not need any more paper apart from this insurance certificate?"
  • "How? QM is there too?"
  • "And how can a woman register with me in Hebamio now? Can I really try this out directly on the tablet?"
  • "Do you use Hebamio yourself? What are your experiences with it?"

- I received all these and so many more questions in the first round. After that, things quietened down a bit as the training participants went to the first lecture. Time for me to optimize the stand again, replenish what I had used and take a deep breath with a cup of coffee.

It was also nice to take a look to the right and left to see which other exhibitors were still on site. But there wasn't much time for a chat, because after the presentations, the participants returned to the exhibitor area. And of course they also passed my stand again. Incidentally, I had the best spot, right in front of the entrance to the lecture hall. So every midwife really did stop by my stand.

Learning by doing

The next interested colleagues came up to me, diligently used the tablets to get to know Hebamio and its functions for themselves, enjoyed my reports from everyday working life with Hebamio. And, of course, they also took a spin on the wheel of fortune to pick up a small gift.
In my opinion, the wheel of fortune itself was an absolute magnet for midwives, everyone wanted to "spin the wheel" - don't we all do that a bit already? 😉 And so, over the course of the day, my gifts and bags gradually became fewer and fewer. But my raffle box filled up with more and more raffle tickets.

The questions and interest in Hebamio continued throughout the day. Some midwife users came to my stand to talk to other midwives and talk about their own experiences. That made the whole thing really authentic for me. And I was able to experience how nice it is to meet other midwifery enthusiasts. A very special experience for me was when I was recognized by former participants of my advanced courses and the Hebamio Café. It was a really warm, live meeting and I was delighted!

The end of the trade fair: A successful day

Slowly but surely, the training day was drawing to a close. As the participants entered the last round of presentations, we exhibitors were already allowed to dismantle our stands. An easy game for me, because apart from my roll-ups, the wheel of fortune, the raffle box and my tablets, there was basically nothing left. All my jute bags and wheel of fortune gifts went to the midwives. In retrospect, this showed me once again how much interest there was in this day at the fair. And it also made me a little prouder that I was able to tell and show so much about Hebamio.
The car was packed so much quicker this time, and the journey home could begin, full of anticipation for my family.
Again, the satnav showed a 2.5 hour drive home. This time, however, I used the time to review the whole thing.

Conclusion: A day at the fair that is worthwhile

A day at a trade fair is an exciting adventure. You get to meet so many new faces and get to tell and explain an incredible amount about something you believe in and use on a daily basis - a home game 😉 Any time again!
